Salford 32 Hull FC 28

Rangi Chase produced a magical performance to inspire Salford Red Devils to their 1st win of the season.

Salford started brightly In the third minute Jordan Walne burst through the defence and passed to Niall Evalds to score Josh Griffin converted and Salford led.

The Red Devils scored again soon after Tommy Lee made a break and Theo Fages was in support to score.

Hull hit back after 15 minutes, Jordan Rankin scored Marc Sneyd converted and it was game on.

Salford scored next Niall Evalds got his second of the game fed by Salfords halfbacks.

10 minutes from half time Adrian Morley was sinbinned for a high tackle leaving the Red Devils with 12 men for the remainder of the rest of the half.

Salford were unable to hang on till half time Hull crossed again  Sneyd converted and Salford fans were nervous.  Hull FC  kicked a penalty bang on half time so  Salford lead 16 – 14 at the break.

The second half started and it was all Hull. A tough tackle on Salford centre Mason Caton-Brown saw play halted whilst he was treated then unfortunately left the field on a stretcher.

Hull took advantage of Salfords injury crisis with both Caton-Brown and Evalds off injured by scoring 15 minutes into the 2nd half.

Salford bounced back scoring 2 tries in a 6 minute period Josh Griffin crossing for both in the left corner.

The final 10 minutes were full of nerves. Hull FC scored another try through Thompson taking the score difference to just 4 points.

5 minutes before the hooter  Junior Sa’u dived over in the right hand corner to give Salford some breathing space.

Hull FC scored again through Lineham at the death and despite lots of Hull pressure Salford hung on to record their 1st win of the season.

Salford Red Devils next opponents are Catalan Dragons in France. It will be a tough battle but after today Salfords conference must be on the up so anything is possible.

Salford 6 St Helens 52

A promising performance last week against Warrington gave supporters hope this season could be the one we finally make our mark. Unfortunately for the big crowd that turned up Salford crumbled in their 1st home game of the season.

Both sides created chances early but Salford were not able to take them.  St Helens made them pay In the 1st 20 minutes running in 3 tries by Jordan Turner, Mark Percival and Jo Greenwood gave Saints a commanding 14-0 lead.

Salford Hit back after 30 minutes though a great try by Ben Jones Bishop. He sliced though the saints defence returning a kick.

Saints stuck the knife into Salfords comeback with a try eather side of half time. Luke Thompson and Tommy Makinson the try scorers.

Salford struggled 2nd half with a mounting injury list and Saints pushed further ahead. Tries from Mark Percival Mark Greenwood and Jordan Turner getting their 2nd of the game.

Andy Sevelio completed the scoring for Saints at the end.

Salford fans were left stunned, frustrated and angry on the terrace at the end. Michael Dobson, Kevin Locke and Cory Patterson having to go off injured caused more sadness for the Red Devils fans.

The next game against Hull is now huge. Lets hope a few wrongs are straightened out by Iestyn and his men by then.

Warrington 22 Salford 8

A huge Salford away following witnessed a tough game in Salfords opening fixtures of this Super league season against Warrington.

The 1st 20 minutes was full of passion from both Side's with Cory Patterson and Gaz Hock showing great aggression against a big Warrington Pack.

Salford had their chances early door Patterson went close after breaking the Warrington line, Josh Griffin picked up a loose ball and was pushed into touch with the line begging and Ben Jones Bishop spilt the ball when the overlap was in Salfords favour.

It took 27 minutes for Wire to break the deadlock ex Salford player Stefan Ratchford worked his magic sending another ex red Richie Myler's to score the opening try.

Mickey Higham then dived over from close range despite claims of a incorrect play of the ball and  Ratchford converted.

Adam walne saw yellow for persistent fouling as the game got close to half time. Salford were down to 12 men and with some heroic defence kept the score to 12-0 at half time.

Salford weathered the Warrington storm early in the 2nd half and after 10 minutes Warrington found themselves down to 12 men. Ben Westwood yellow-carded for a horrible head tackle on Walne.

Salford pressed trying to take advantage of the extra man but Warrington came up with a sucker punch Atkins bagged their third try from a kick though and despite heroics by Johnson trying to keep him out scored 18-0 and Salford had a mountain to climb.

Salford continued to press and were rewarded when Jones-Bishop collected Dobson's cut out pass to go over in the corner just before the hour. 18-4

Despite some Salford pressure Evans scored for Warrington and the match was over as a contest

Salford made the scoreline more respectable with Jones-Bishop's second try two minutes from time after a good break by Rangi Chase and quick hands gave the flying winger time to go over.

Despite defeat Salford gave a battling performance for the 2000 fans that made the journey and will take confidence into the game on Thursday night against St Helens
