Salford 32 Hull FC 28

Rangi Chase produced a magical performance to inspire Salford Red Devils to their 1st win of the season.

Salford started brightly In the third minute Jordan Walne burst through the defence and passed to Niall Evalds to score Josh Griffin converted and Salford led.

The Red Devils scored again soon after Tommy Lee made a break and Theo Fages was in support to score.

Hull hit back after 15 minutes, Jordan Rankin scored Marc Sneyd converted and it was game on.

Salford scored next Niall Evalds got his second of the game fed by Salfords halfbacks.

10 minutes from half time Adrian Morley was sinbinned for a high tackle leaving the Red Devils with 12 men for the remainder of the rest of the half.

Salford were unable to hang on till half time Hull crossed again  Sneyd converted and Salford fans were nervous.  Hull FC  kicked a penalty bang on half time so  Salford lead 16 – 14 at the break.

The second half started and it was all Hull. A tough tackle on Salford centre Mason Caton-Brown saw play halted whilst he was treated then unfortunately left the field on a stretcher.

Hull took advantage of Salfords injury crisis with both Caton-Brown and Evalds off injured by scoring 15 minutes into the 2nd half.

Salford bounced back scoring 2 tries in a 6 minute period Josh Griffin crossing for both in the left corner.

The final 10 minutes were full of nerves. Hull FC scored another try through Thompson taking the score difference to just 4 points.

5 minutes before the hooter  Junior Sa’u dived over in the right hand corner to give Salford some breathing space.

Hull FC scored again through Lineham at the death and despite lots of Hull pressure Salford hung on to record their 1st win of the season.

Salford Red Devils next opponents are Catalan Dragons in France. It will be a tough battle but after today Salfords conference must be on the up so anything is possible.
