It was a wild wintry mid week night in West Yorkshire. Salford riding high in the centenary season. It was a struggle that season for Batley finishing 10th one place above the bottom club, there rivals dewsbury. On this occasion though they have Salford a real scare. The Reds went on to clinch the division 1 title finishing seven points clear of keighley Cougars, winning 17 of there 20 games. Some good times followed for Salford in the next few years. We won the division one title the following year and were promoted to super league. Back to back challenge cup semi finals in 1997 and 1998.
