Salford start their 2017 season on Saturday with a home game against Wigan Warriors. In this series of blogs Rob, Dan and Paul look at our squad for 2017. Rob below starts with the backs in the squad.
Gaz Obrien
Since Joining from Warrington last year has has cermented his spot at fullback in Salfords starting 13.
A very creative player and with a ability to finish makes him one of Salfords main attacking options with 3 Tries and 22 assists in 2016 a lot of Salfords good work involves him.
He was Salfords hero in the Million Pound Mircle where his drop goal against Hull KR gave us Super league rugby to enjoy in 2017.
After his 2016 heroics the stage is set for another season where good memories can be made.

Greg Johnson
A lighting fast out and out winger Greg can be a real handful for any defences, last season he got over the line 7 times. He works hard for the team too which means he is a asset to the team when returning kicks and turning them into tries like he did against Widnes in 2016.
If he is given a run in the side he will score lots of tries in 2017.
Jake Bibby
A product of our academy system when call upon in 2016 he performed very well including a great performance against Widnes at Magic Weekend in Newcastle. A strong defender and enthusiasm of youth is a great blend and 2017 might be the season he makes a name for himself in the starting 13.
Junior Sau
Junior Sau was named podcast player of the year in 2014 after a outstanding debut season for the Reds and in 2016 he looked leaner and ready to cause opposition defences trouble again.
A fans favourite with his strong running style made him top try scorer in 2016 with 13 tries and with the high standards he reached fans are looking forward to another big season for him in 2017.
Justin Carney
Jusin Carney "The tank on the flank" had a very good season with Salford. He was a fixture at the top of the metre made chart with 2800m made until injury struck him down but until then he was causing opposition problems every week.
With 9 Super league tries last year and real power in his running style he will be very difficult to stop in 2017
Kris Welham
A new signing from Bradford Kris has impressed so far in a Red shirt, tries against Rochdale and Hull proves he knows were the line is and being a proven try scorer his quality has shone.
2017 could a very big season for Kris and Salford Red Devils.
Nial Evalds
2016 was a season for change for Nial as he vacated his fullback spot to play more in the centres and on the wing. A outstanding player with youth on his side he is strong in defence and with 12 tries last year makes him a asset for Salford in 2017 whatever position Ian Watson decideds to play him.
